This ended up being a lower mileage week because I won’t be able to get my long run in until tomorrow. Aside from that, the week went well. Some runs were difficult because it’s been hot and humid and I’m slowly getting re-activated to that after a cold, dry winter.
Monday: 2 miles (treadmill), weights. I don’t remember why I ran on the treadmill…I think it was stormy. Anyways, it sucked. My 10 minute pace felt like I was dying.
Tuesday: 5 miles. Super hot, humid, and windy. This run was exceptionally hard, but I made it through. I “explored” the “cross country trail” on campus and was extremely disappointed. I need to find some real trails around here!
Thursday: 5 x 400 w/ 400 active recovery, .75 WU/CD. 4 miles total, and a killer strength session. This felt much easier than last week. I wasn’t dying after my intervals so I know I paced myself better. I figured out how to time my intervals with my watch: 2:03, 2:08, 2:02, 2:10, 1:55. I wish they were more even, but that’ll come with time. I really pushed it on my last one and I was so happy to see below 2:00!
Saturday: 3 miles at work. One of my running friends and I had planned to do 8, but it didn’t work out. It was humid but fun!
Sunday: Rest – my cousin’s graduation day! I’m about to head to Burlington, VT. No running will be happening, but I feel there will be a lot of walking.
Weekly total: 14 miles.
I plan to do this week’s long run tomorrow, which will be 13-15 miles. Theoretically that would have put me between 27-29 miles for this week, which I’m happy with. However, I just didn’t have the time for it today or yesterday. This will be my last long run before my half marathon on 5/31!
