This week brought my to my first race post-injury! I was so excited all week and really pushed myself to be ready to hopefully set a PR at the Turkey Trot. While the week wasn’t perfect (as usual) I was still pretty happy about it. I did miss my long run today because I took too long of a nap when I got home from Vermont, and now I need to study everything in the world about Neuroanatomy. But I’m still being flexible so it’s okay.
Monday: Rest. My knee wasn’t feeling great after Sunday’s 6 miles.
Tuesday: 3 mi on the treadmill. They were not good, and I’m realizing why I hate the treadmill so much. did weights as well
Wednesday: Cross-cycle class. It was intense and I loved it!
Thursday: 4 mi, 36:35. My fastest 4 miler ever!
Saturday: 3.1 mi, 27:35. This was my first out of two turkey trots that I’m really aiming for a PR at. I missed it by 8 measly seconds and was not happy. However, I gave it all I had. Full recap soon!
Sunday: Unplanned rest day. I got back this afternoon from VT and really needed a cat nap (which turned into 2:30). All is good, though. I’m not sure how I’m going to make up for the missed long run/miles, or if I’m just going to let it slide.
Weekly Miles: 10.1 (not happy with myself)
Miles in this training cycle: 45.43 (Still not sure if I’ll be doing the half on 1/1/15 or not, it’s looking less and less likely though).
I’m really seeing improvements in the times of my shorter runs and I love it. My legs feel so strong, and I think my gym sessions are really starting to pay off. As I mentioned above, I’m less and less sure of doing the half on New Year’s Day, simply because it’s looking like I’ll be in NY instead of in NY, and driving 5 hours for a half just doesn’t make sense to me. However, I’m still going to keep training like I’m running it. I do better when I have a schedule to follow and it’s not doing any harm!
